Tailor made self drive safaris, particularly for persons interested in bird watching, are organised and planned, in accordance with the aspirant safari goers instructions, and led by an experienced wilderness traveler and safari organiser. These are trips in South Africa ( Game reserves, bush camps, Kalahari, Karoo) and or into Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, Zimbabwe and southern Tanzania.

The trip organizer and leader is a person with 25 years experience in excursions to remote wilderness areas across southern Africa focused mainly on birding. Various degrees of "roughing it with related adventure experiences" can be incorporated in the planned trip while at the same time other more sedate and comfortable trips can be designed that will incorporate lodges as opposed to self-catered camping which is the domain for the rougher trips and the adventure seeker. It all depends on what the safari goers are looking for.

Potential safari goers will need to arrange their own 4 x 4 vehicles, equipment and provisions. Assistance can be provided in this regard as there are numerous 4 x 4 hire establishments to choose from.

Undertaking to adhere to rules of participation on such trips is a prerequisite simply for the smooth running of a trip. The minimum number of vehicles is three with two passengers in each with a maximum number of vehicles being five. In other words between 6 and 10 safari goers. The rougher safaris into remote, off the beaten track areas are only arranged during the dry periods as during the rainy season many of these places are inaccessible. At least four months should be allowed to do the planning, organising and to secure bookings.

Being entirely flexible, prices for a particular trip will be quoted for on clarification of the intended trip. While birding is the main focus of trips into wilderness areas, other activities such as tiger fishing, snorkeling and visits to exquisite scuba diving sites off the South African and Mozambique coast can be incorporated.
